The Setlist
Intro & Yard
The band kicked off their show with a swelling (yet spooky) introduction. They then artfully transition into Yard, a song from their first album, The Warm Earth.
Save Your Mind
This is the band’s first performance of this song! They plan on using it on their upcoming third album, to go along with the two songs I produced with them.
Great Dane
This is yet another unrecorded song that may make an appearance on their third album. It is a newer song from the group, and has been gaining crowd favor during their sets.
I’ve Walked With The Giants & Find Your Man
This song is also featured on The Warm Earth. It takes the torch and continues the cozy yet energetic show further into the night.
Towers
Towers is another song that comes from The Dollyhoppers’ first album. It brings the show to a calmer levels and quickly swells into a vibrant crescendo at the halfway mark.
The Neighbors
Here is one of their newly recorded tracks that will release on their third album. The band was excited to showcase the song after a successful recording session we had the day before.
Dirt
This is The Dollyhoppers most well-known song and a fan-favorite on their sets. It appeared on their first album, and was re-recorded and released as a single in 2019. This grand finale to their set was recieved with rounds of applause from the audience and left the crowd hungry for the following performance from Hard Hat Music.
How Was It Recorded?
To record this show I used a combination of a stage box split into ProTools, and a Zoom H6 Field Recorder. I took the kick, snare, keys, vocal, the vocalist’s guitar, and the saxophone mic tracks from the stage box into a Focusrite Clarret 8Pre Audio Interface, which was plugged into a Macbook Pro with ProTools recording the tracks. I then used the XY Stereo Microphone off of the H6 to record an overall atmosphere of the venue, as well as a sort of distant overhead microphone set. In the mix, I took the multitrack and the H6 recording to recreate the final recording.
